Workshop

Leadership

Taking on a professorship or leading a research group is also a role shift: from subject-matter expert to leader. For postdocs and professors, the workshop combines leadership fundamentals with individual reflection on your own leadership style, and it results in a concrete personal action plan for your own leadership practice.

Hardly anyone is appointed to a professorship or a group leadership because they have led before. Yet from the first day, teams need coordinating, doctoral researchers need supervision, and projects need steering – on top of teaching and research.

This workshop conveys the core fundamentals of effective leadership in an academic context and creates space to reflect on your own leadership style. From classic and modern leadership approaches through staff and budget planning to supervising doctoral researchers, the topics cover the full spectrum of academic leadership tasks. Anyone who wants to go deeper into supervision will find a dedicated workshop on that topic.

A hands-on format of input, group exercises, and transfer tasks ensures that individual challenges are picked up and worked through in a solution-oriented way.
