Principle

This website is deliberately built to minimize data collection. It processes personal data only where technically necessary for its operation, or where you actively provide it to me. What is not collected does not need to be protected, retained, or deleted.

This website does not use:

• Analytics or tracking services such as Google Analytics or Matomo
• Advertising networks, retargeting, or profiling
• Social media plugins or embedded "like" buttons
• Externally loaded fonts, scripts, or third-party media, such as Google Fonts
• Embedded third-party video or audio content
• Third-party captcha services

A cookie banner is therefore not required: no cookies requiring consent are set.

Legal Bases

Unless stated otherwise below, I base processing on:

• Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR – performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures, for example when you make an inquiry about a workshop
• Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interest, for example in the secure and stable operation of this website
• Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR – compliance with a legal obligation, for example commercial and tax-law retention periods

Hosting and Server Log Files

This website is hosted by united-domains AG, Gautinger Straße 10, 82319 Starnberg, Germany. The email account for this domain also runs through the same provider. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the provider.

For security reasons, the hosting provider stores access data in the standard Apache log format whenever a page is accessed:

• domain accessed
• IP address of the requesting device
• date and time of access
• access method used
• the previously visited page (referrer), if transmitted
• name and version of the browser used

This access data is deleted after 14 days at the latest, including any backup copies.

The data serves operational security and defense against attacks. It is not combined with other data sources, nor is it evaluated for marketing purposes. I do not evaluate these logs myself, nor do I attribute them to individual persons.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest lies in the secure and trouble-free operation of the website. Further details are set out in united-domains' privacy policy.

Cookies and Storage on Your Device

This website uses a single, technically necessary cookie:

The cookie is transmitted exclusively in encrypted form, cannot be read by scripts, and is not shared with third parties. It contains no personal content and does not serve to recognize you across sessions.

Since this cookie is strictly necessary to provide the service you have explicitly requested, consent under Sec. 25(2) No. 2 of the German Telecommunications-Digital-Services-Data-Protection Act (Telekommunikation-Digitale-Dienste-Datenschutz-Gesetz – TDDDG) is not required. The legal basis for processing is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

In addition, when the page is loaded, the website checks whether your browser has a stored preference for light or dark display. This information remains exclusively in your browser and is not transmitted to me or to any third party.

You can delete cookies at any time via your browser settings or restrict their acceptance. If the cookie mentioned above is blocked, the contact form cannot be submitted.

Contact Form

If you use the contact form, I process the information you enter:

• Name
• Email address
• Content of your message

This data is not stored on the web server. The form only forwards your message to me by email. After that, the data exists only in my email inbox and is subject to the rules on email communication described below.

Protection Against Automated Submissions

To protect against automated spam submissions, the form uses two methods, both of which run entirely on this website:

First, the form contains an additional field that is invisible to you. If this field is filled in – which only happens with automated access – the submission is rejected.

Second, when you submit the form, your browser solves a small computational task in the background (a so-called proof of work, using the "Cap" method). This usually takes less than a second and happens without any action on your part. The task and its solution contain no personal data; they are held server-side only briefly for verification and then discarded. No cookies are set in this process and no data is stored in your browser's memory; no evaluation of your behavior takes place. No third-party captcha service is used, and no data is transmitted to third parties.

This method requires JavaScript to be enabled in your browser. If it is disabled, the form cannot be submitted; you can still reach me at any time by email or phone.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, insofar as your inquiry is directed at concluding a contract; otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, in the interest of responding to your request.

Providing this data is neither legally nor contractually required, and you are not obliged to provide it. However, without a name, email address, and message, I cannot process your inquiry. You can also reach me at any time by phone or directly by email.

Email and Phone Contact

If you contact me by email or phone, I process your details in order to handle your request. For emails, this is in particular your sender address and the content of your message; for calls, your phone number and the information you provide during the conversation.

I delete this data once your request has been fully processed and no statutory retention obligations apply. For business correspondence, commercial and tax-law retention periods of six or ten years apply; in these cases, processing is restricted rather than the data being deleted.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where there is a contractual context, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; for retention, Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR.

Scope

This privacy policy applies to the website www.academic.coach. For other applications that I operate under separate addresses, the notices published there apply.

Recipients of Data

Your data is not shared with third parties, except:

• to united-domains AG as processor for web hosting and the email account
• where I am legally obliged to do so, for example to tax authorities or by official or judicial order

No data is transmitted via service providers outside the European Union; no transfer to third countries takes place. There is no automated decision-making and no profiling.

Your Rights

You have the following rights with respect to me regarding your personal data:

• Access (Art. 15 GDPR) – whether and which data I process about you
• Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR) – correction of inaccurate data
• Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) – removal of your data, provided no retention obligation applies
• Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
• Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) – provision in a common format
• Objection (Art. 21 GDPR) – to processing based on a legitimate interest
• Withdrawal of consent (Art. 7(3) GDPR) – with effect for the future

For all these matters, an informal message to info@academic.coach is sufficient.

Right to Object

You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of personal data concerning you which is based on a legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. I will then no longer process the data concerned, unless I can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights, and freedoms, or the processing serves to assert, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Right to Lodge a Complaint with a Supervisory Authority

If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law, you may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The competent authority is:
